Our club's Spring 2012 Picnic will be Saturday, June 16th, 2012, from 12pm - 4pm, at Weissport Park in Weissport, PA.

Plans are to meet at the Canal Pavilion at 12:00pm for a nice Eskie walk along this beautiful trail in northeast PA. The event will be end at 4pm.

Our Spring Picnic - 2011

Our club had its Spring Picnic on Saturday, 5/21/11. It was a picturesque day at the Lehigh Canal, with members of the club greeted by the custom table covering with our club logo hanging on the pavilion. The covered pavilion offered the perfect amount of shade over the picnic tables for all our fluffy pups and their human companions.

A smorgasbord of treats that looked tempting for people, but were for canine consumption, decorated the tables (several people were fooled by the delectable looking items for pups only!). A basket filled with other goodies was on the side, waiting to be drawn out of a raffle and given to the lucky winner later on in the day.

Eskies kept filling the area… sometimes in pairs and sometimes in droves, but always with big smiles on their faces. Name tags were provided for the people to help everyone recognize each other and their dogs. Old friends reconnected with each other, and extended furry family members said their hellos from the rear. Their noses guided them to the tables where cheese, carrots, cauliflower and cookies awaited their eager mouths, with many doing tricks over and over and over again to prove their worthiness for these morsels. Several were very good at convincing others that they were starved at home and absolutely needed the nourishment.

After a quick club meeting, club dog member, Atka, the AMAZING Eskie, with his little sister, Nuka, entertained everyone with a little part of their tricks show under the pavilion center.

Afterwards, it was time to meander along the trail, with the Lehigh River and Canal flanking both sides. The sea of fluffy white drew much attention from passersby, and the pack thoroughly enjoyed themselves with the adventure of all the new sights and smells the trail offered them.

A rest after the walk allowed the dogs to rehydrate and recharge, the raffle was drawn, and lucky winner, Hugh, left a happy camper with the basket full of goodies in tow.

There is no better way to wrap up a lovely day other than with a group picture of all our furry friends and their 2-legged family members. The photographers whistled, chirped, waved their arms about, and gallantly made odd jungle-like calls to try to get all those pairs of lovely dark brown eyes looking at them at the same time. Although 20 strong earlier (2 had to leave early), the remaining 18 Eskies tried their best to all look at the puparazzi. Can a dog be blamed for giving his rapt attention to his owner instead of the photographer? ;-)

A compilation of photos and videos from the day were captured by Sandy Wingert and posted on YouTube:

It was a lovely gathering of Eskies and their fans - one that whetted everyone's appetite for the next fun event in the fall! If you are interested in joining us, drop us a line at aedfcgp@gmail.com to get more details. We welcome all members who share our enthusiasm for the Eskie breed!
